Safety Nets

Use a six-foot leash or long line unless you are 99.9% confident in your dog's recall. This is especially important near roads, dangerous animals, or if your dog has a history of reactivity or aggression.

Deconstructing Challenges

If your dog is struggling, go back to a more basic variation. Week 1 recall exercises, check-ins, Mat Work, or Heel Work. Build a calm, focused connection before advancing.

📊

Under / At / Over Threshold

Under-threshold: practice recall in new environment. At-threshold: use Mat Work or Heel Work. Over-threshold: keep sets short (10–15 seconds) with high reinforcement. If no recovery after 4 sets, move to an easier environment.
