Close Proximity Movement to Platform
Exercise 1. Close Proximity Movement to Platform
Key Concept
Release Cues
Use different release cues to set clear expectations. "All done" signals a break from training. "Get it" resets your dog, encouraging them to go for a piece of food and then reorient to you for continued training.
Key Concept
Reset
Use the release cue "Get it" to encourage your dog to go for a piece of food. The goal is for your dog to go for the food but reorient to you for continued training.
Exercise 2. Down Hand Signal
Key Concept
Teaching Cues
To teach any new cue, verbal, hand signal, or contextual, you need three distinct parts: (1) the cue, (2) the prompt, (3) the reinforcement. The cue should always come first, the prompt second. If sequenced correctly you can fade the prompt over time. If both are offered simultaneously, the prompt will always remain part of the cue.
